Sam Zimbabwe is the Chief Project Delivery Officer, a new position in DDOT that brings together planning, traffic engineering, transit, and capital projects. Equipped with a wealth of experience in urban design, bicycle and pedestrian planning and urban ecology.

Mr. Zimbabwe guides DDOT’s development of the District’s multimodal transportation network. Previously, Mr. Zimbabwe served as the Associate Director of DDOT's Planning and Sustainability Division (PSD). Mr. Zimbabwe holds a master’s in city planning in urban design from the University of California, Berkley, and a bachelor’s in urban and regional studies from Cornell University.

Prior to joining DDOT, Mr. Zimbabwe was the director of the Center for Transit-Oriented Development at Reconnecting America where he led planning and technical assistance projects focused on transit and transit-oriented development with local and national philanthropic foundations and public agencies around the country. He also has experience as an urban designer with Community Design + Architecture and Van Meter Williams Pollack in the San Francisco Bay area.
